Karen’s main research areas are in intellectual property and cyber law. Her current doctoral research investigates authorship of computer-generated works (CGWs). Karen’s research takes an innovative approach as it utilises the theory of new materialism, which has underpinnings in quantum physics and philosophy. Her research provides an ontological understanding of computer-generated works. This is done by focusing on the materials and material effects of a CGW, so the processes involved in such a work become more visible.
