Roger Burridge joined Warwick Law School in 1979. Before joining Warwick, Roger was a barrister practising in London chambers and in Newham Rights Centre, a community law centre in East London. His main areas of practice were crime, housing and administrative law. He was Head of the Law School from 2005 to 2008. Until May 2006 he was the Director of the UK Centre for Legal Education, which is the Subject Centre for Law funded by the Higher Education Academy to promote learning and teaching development throughout UK law schools. He has served as a consultant on legal education and development for the EU, USAID, and the British Council. He has worked on teaching projects including clinical teaching, curriculum development, quality enhancement and lawyer training in Chile, Ethiopia, India, Malawi, Montenegro, Poland, the Philippines, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. He is a member of the Bar Vocational Board for the General Council of the Bar. and is on the Board of the International Association of Law Schools. In January 2005 he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to health and safety. In 2002 he was a Visiting Scholar at New York University Law School as part of the Hauser Global Law Programme. He is a founder member of the Free Representation Unit, a charity that provides free legal representation.
