Good Practice Building Blocks for Equality and Human Rights Impact Assessments Launched
On Wednesday 23 April, the Sottish Human Rights Commission and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (Scotland) launched a set of resources to assist public authorities in undertaking robust and meaningful equality and human rights impact assessment processes. This was the culmination of 4 years of work which Dr James Harrison, co-director of the Centre, has been integrally involved in. Dr Harrison designed the 10 good practice building blocks for assessing impact which are at the heart of the resources. This work was supported by a steering group of members including, the Scottish Government, Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA), NHS Health Scotland, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People, the Scottish Councils Equality Network, Police Scotland, the Scottish Prison Service, Audit Scotland, Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and others.

Bristol Fawcett Society launches Report Using CHRP Model
On 3rd November, Bristol Fawcett Society launched their report "Cutting Women Out in Bristol". It captures the extent of the public sector spending cuts and their equality & human rights impact on women in Bristol. You can find a copy of the report and executive summary here.
The Report is inspired by, and draws extensively on the Centre for Human Rights in Practice's report "Unravelling Equality" which considers the human rights and equality impact of the spending cuts on women in Coventry.
