Professor Celine Tan

Professor of International Economic Law, Warwick Law School and Co-Director, Centre for Law, Regulation and Governance of the Global Economy (GLOBE), University of Warwick, UK

Lead PI of JETP project

Celine Tan is Professor of International Economic Law at Warwick Law School, University of Warwick. She is also the Co-Director of the GLOBE Centre based at Warwick Law School. She is currently leading a project on Climate Finance for Equitable Transitions (CLiFT), a multi-institutional and multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at exploring the climate finance supply chain within the context of the multilateral climate change regime, international financial architecture and the multi-layered landscape of international economic law. She has published on issues relating to international economic law and development, sovereign debt and the global financial architecture, and sustainable development and climate finance. She is Co-Chair of the Academic Circle on the Right to Development) and a member of the Independent Expert Working Group on Just Transition Finance of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FFNPT) Initiative. Celine is Principal Investigator on the JETP project and leads the work in the UK.

Dr Anil Yilmaz Vastardis

Co- Investigator of JETP project

Anil Yilmaz Vastardis is a Senior Lecturer and Co-Director of the Essex Business and Human Rights Project at Essex Law School. She is alsoHonorary Associate Professor at Warwick Law School. Her research focuses on the intersection of international investment law, business and human rights, and tort law, exploring how these areas can operationalise human rights standards in global business practices. Anil is particularly interested in the role of investment law in fostering just transitions, particularly in energy and climate finance. Her current research examines the role of investment law in promoting a just and equitable green transition, with a focus on energy transition, climate finance, and ensuring equity in global climate governance. She is Co-Investigator on the JETP project.

Shafic Osman

Shafic Osman

PhD Candidate, London School of Economics (LSE) Law School, UK 

JETP Researcher

Shafic Osman is an MPhil/PhD student at the LSE Law School where his research focuses on sovereign debt governance in post-colonial African states. His work seeks to address the challenges faced by these countries in financing sustainable socio-economic development, particularly as the era of low-cost borrowing ends. Shafic holds an LL.M (Distinction) from the University of Warwick and undergraduate degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Ghana. Shafic is researcher on the JETP project.

Swasha

Swasha Fernando

Attorney-at-Law, Colombo Law Alliance, Sri Lanka

JETP Researcher

Swasha Fernando is Attorney-at-Law at Colombo Law Alliance. She holds an LLM in International Commercial Law from the University of Warwick, a BA in English Language, Linguistics and Cultural Studies from the University of Colombo and an LLB (Hons) from the University of London. Prior to joining Colombo Law Alliance, Swasha served as a State Counsel attached to the Attorney General’s Department from 2018 to 2022, during which time she obtained her Masters in Human Rights and Democratisation. Swasha was a researcher on the JETP project.

Jason Adams

Data Visualisation Specialist, University of Warwick, UK

JETP Researcher

Jason Adams holds a MASc in Data Visualisation from the University of Warwick. He specialises in creating interactive data visualisations and dashboards, using programming languages such as Python, R, and Power BI to present complex data in an accessible and insightful manner. Jason has a background in biological sciences and is deeply involved in the esports community, having competed professionally with EXCEL ESPORTS. His work spans data analytics, digital innovation, and competitive gaming, making him a unique voice in both the technology and esports industries. Jason developed and supports the JETP data dashboard.

Dr Gamze Erdem Türkelli

Associate Research Professor, Law and Development Research Group, Faculty of Law, University of Antwerp, Belgium

JETP Co-Investigator

Gamze Erdem Türkelli is an Associate Research Professor at the Law and Development Research Group, Faculty of Law, University of Antwerp. Her work is situated in the interface of international law, human rights law and sustainable development. She conducts research into transnational human rights obligations, hybrid public-private actors in international law such as multistakeholder partnerships, 'innovative' development financing, business and human rights, children's rights as well as accountability and responsibility. She is the Principal Investigator of the European Reseacrh Council (ERC) Starting Grant 2023 funded GENESIS Project. Gamze is Co-Investigator on the JETP project and leads the work in Belgium and the European Union.

Arinc Onat Kilic

PhD Candidate, Law and Development Research Group, Faculty of Law, University of Antwerp, Belgium

JETP Researcher

Arınç Onat Kılıç is a PhD candidate and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Antwerp, specialising in international law, climate finance, and environmental justice. His interdisciplinary research critically explores the intersection of sustainability labeling mechanisms—particularly blue bonds—and their implications for climate justice and equitable environmental governance. Arınç holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from Lund University where he contributed to projects on the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on just transitions. Arınç is a researcher on the JETP project.

Dr Basani Baloyi

Co-Programme Director, Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ), South Africa

JETP Co-Investigator

Basani Baloyi is a Co-Programme Director at IEJ, South Africa. She is a feminist, development economist and activist her current work includes a project on Alternatives to South Africa JET-IP. She holds a PhD in Economics from SOAS, UK and an MA in Public Policy and MCom in Economics from Wits University, South Africa. She has extensive policy and research experience in academia and the civil service in South Africa, including as Director of Industrial Policy and Acting Chief Director in the Industrial Procurement Unit at the Department of Trade and Industry. Basani is Co-Investigator on the JETP project and leads the work in South Africa.

Bhima

Bhima Yudhistira Adhinegar

Executive Director and Head of Research, Director, Centre of Economics and Law Studies (CELIOS), Indonesia

JETP Co-Investigator

Executive Director and Head of Research at CELIOS. He is an expert on sustainable finance and transition minerals governance in Indonesia. He has a bachelor degree from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia and a Masters in Finance from the University of Bradford, UK. He has experience in economic research activities at institutions such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC World Bank), Kadin, Fair Labor Association-US, and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. Throughout his career, Bhima has conducted extensive analyses related to macroeconomics, energy transition, and critical minerals. Bhima is Co-Investigator on the JETP project and leads the work in Indonesia

Joan Stott

Senior programme officer: Climate finance and resource mobilisation, Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ), South Africa

JETP Researcher

Joan has over 20 years experience in public finance management, policy development, institutional capacity-building and advancing socioeconomic and fiscal justice. She has experience working on fiscal policy, social dialogue, economic policy, gender and financial inclusion, public finance management policy, analysis and reform, as well as human rights and development issues. Joan has contributed to a range of sectors in both government and private organisations, as well as multilateral development institutions. Her career spans work on a variety of policy and development projects in South Africa and other African nations.

JETP Researcher

Galau D Muhammad is a fiscal justice researcher at CELIOS, Indonesia, where his work focuses on advancing equitable fiscal policies and promoting transparency in public finance. His background in political science and public policy from Universitas Gadjah Mada strengthens his ability to bridge academic research with civic engagement and policy advocacy. Galau is an awardee of the TELADAN Leadership Program by the Tanoto Foundation, and he has held leadership roles within student and social organisations. His research aims to support social justice and inclusive development through the promotion of fair fiscal policies. Galau is a researcher on the JETP project.

Goh Chien Yen is a Legal Advisor and Researcher with TWN. He holds an LLB from the University of Nottingham and an LLM from the National University of Singapore. Chien Yen's work involves advocating for the interests of developing countries in global governance and addressing issues related to international trade, development, and human rights

Vicente Paolo Yu

Vicente Paolo Yu works as an independent expert and consultant for various United Nations agencies and NGOs. He is currently Senior Legal Advisor with the TWN, Visiting Research Fellow at the UNRISD, Associate Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and Honorary Professorial Fellow, University of Warwick, UK. Previously, he served as the Deputy Executive Director of the South Centre and coordinated the Centre’s work on global governance, climate change, investment, South-South cooperation, and sustainable development issues.

Dr Farwa Sial

Research Associate, Department of Economics, SOAS University of London

JETP Researcher

Farwa Sial is a Research Associate with the Department of Economics at SOAS University of London. Her research expertise includes political economy of development, development finance in the context of the global financial architecture and the imperial nature of private sector accumulation in the global south. Her research interests lie in integrating academic research into activism and policy making on a national and multilateral level. She is a management committee member of the Association of Heterodox Economics and Diversifying and Decolonising Economics.
