Optional Modules

View optional modules available to fourth-year students, by course.

Law with Year Abroad in English, Law with French Law and Law with German Law

During your fourth year you will complete one compulsory module totalling 30 CATS:

LA307: Law of Trusts (30 CATS) – full year

You will then select 90 CATS of optional modules from the optional modules below, of which up to 30 CATS can be external modules

Term 1: 3 optional modules (45 CATS)
Term 2: 3 optional modules (45 CATS)

Law (4 Year)

During your fourth year you will complete one compulsory module totalling 30 CATS:

LA307: Law of Trusts for QD (30 CATS) – full year (if not taken in year 3)

You will then select 90 or 120 CATS worth of optional modules depending on whether you are taking LA307 Law of Trusts in third or fourth year:

Term 1: 3 optional modules (45 CATS) (if taking LA307 Law of Trusts) or 4 optional modules (60 CATS) if not
Term 2: 3 optional modules (45 CATS) (if taking LA307 Law of Trusts) or 4 optional modules (60 CATS) if not

Law and Sociology

During your fourth year you will complete two compulsory module totalling 45 CATS:

LA240: Foundations of EU Law (15 CATS) – Term 2
LA307: Law of Trusts (30 CATS) – Full Year

You will then select 75 CATS of optional Law or Sociology modules:

Term 1: 3 optional modules (45 CATS)
Term 2: 2 optional modules (30 CATS)

You must study a minimum of 90 CATS of Sociology modules over years three and four (combined). You can only study one 15 CAT external module in either years 3 or 4.

LA3B5 Judicial Review is not available to students who have studied LA201 Constitutional and Administrative Law
For LA3B6 Cinematic Explorations of Public Law you must have studied LA129 Law, State and Individual (or LA201 General Principles of Constitutional & Administrative Law)
