This online event is a space for structured dialogue between staff who teach or support student learning at University College Birmingham and Warwick University in order to build connections and share good practice.
This is a pilot project as part of the Practicing Inclusive Education project funded by WIHEA.
University College Birmingham and Warwick University are hosting an online Human Teaching Book - akin to a Human Library but with a teaching/student support focus.
How it works
'Human books' are staff or students who are happy to share their experiences/knowledge to help others shape and enhance their teaching/student support practice. The 'books' meet up to two 'readers' (people wishing to learn more) in virtual rooms for a short, unstructured dialogue to explain a little more about what they do. This is a great opportunity to learn something new and meet others with similar interests to build communities of practice across the institutions.

What is the Human Teaching Book event?
Like a Human Library, this event aims to establish a positive framework and safe space for dialogue between readers and a Human 'Teaching Book'. The concept is based on personal conversation rather than a presentation or lecture. It is not just a story, it’s an engagement and interaction, a Q&A from a lived perspective sharing experiences of embedding new ideas into teaching practice and student support.
Why the Human Teaching Book event?
The Human Teaching Book event represents a unique opportunity to engage in open conversation with Human Teaching Books and learn about their experiences to inform and enhance teaching practice and student support.
