My doctoral research explores whether defendants in the Magistrates' Courts of a district in India are able to effectively participate in the trial and what it means for larger goals of fairness in the adversarial system.

I am also interested in wider substantive and procedural issues of Criminal Law and Justice and look forward to collaborating with like-minded researchers in the area.
