Research: The Political Economy of Intellectual Property Rights and Reproductive Choices
Supervisor(s): Hyo Yoon Kang, Sharifah Sekalala
Yasir Naseer is a doctoral researcher in law at the University of Warwick. His research investigates how intellectual property regimes shape reproductive autonomy within the broader terrain of global health governance. He examines how patent structures, pharmaceutical market dynamics, and trade rules condition access to reproductive and essential medicines, and how these legal architectures intersect with human rights frameworks and postcolonial critiques of power.
Yasir holds an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from London (2022–23) and pursues interdisciplinary work at the intersection of intellectual property law, global health, gender justice, essential-medicines policy, and the political economy of innovation.
