Profile
I am a PhD student in the PAIS department. My supervisors are Michael Saward and Tom Parr.
My research deals with the normative potential of higher degrees of anonymity for political candidates in liberal democratic systems. This is especially relevant in regard to the growing personalisation of politics and the dissemination of an ideology of "intimacy" that threatens the epistemic significance of political debates and the effectiveness of democratic scrutiny.
Research
Alongside my core research project, I am also interested in:
- The contributions of classical liberal and right-libertarian philosophy to normative democratic theory, and vice-versa.
- The intersection between political psychology and normative democratic theory.
- The emerging field of bio-politics and the challenges it poses to post-modernism.
- The effects of ideological and cognitive diversity in the social sciences.
