International Political Economy
How does the global political economy work, and for whose benefit? In term 1 the module aims to provide robust and critical knowledge of key concepts and theoretical debates in the field of International Political Economy (IPE), ranging from mainstream systemic approaches such as liberalism and realism through to critical perspectives including feminist, post-colonial, cultural, and everyday approaches to IPE. In term 2 the module examines controversial empirical issues and challenges in IPE, such as contemporary issues related to global trade, production, finance, consumption, migration, climate change, and resistance. Overall, the module aims to develop an ability to analyse, compare, and critically evaluate fundamental assumptions and arguments in the field of IPE and IPE-related literature.
