Development in Policy and Practice – Issues, Approaches and Skills

This module explores key issues, approaches and skills for International Development Policy and Practice. It is taught by a Professor of Practice with a wealth of experience from the sector to bring development policy and practice to life through classroom engagement and skills development relevant to the field. Students will gain hands-on experience through practice-based learning such as development project management simulations, evidence gathering, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and policy advisory. Completing this module will equip students with professional skills and tools for the International Development field.

By the end of the module, students will be able to:

• evaluate policy alternatives in respect of key problems of International Development.

• assess the policy, practice, outcome nexus in International Development

• draw links between academic political analysis and policy practice

• to develop some core skills and use tools relevant for professional development in the International Development field.
