Ashjan Ajour completed her PhD in Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London in August 2019. . Dr. Ajour is a Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Wolverhampton, and the 2022 incoming Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Brown University in the United States. Their research interests and teaching experience are situated in sociology; gender studies; feminist theories and movements; political subjectivity; incarceration; decolonization and global indigenous politics. Dr. Ajour has previously taught at Goldsmiths College, the University of Warwick, and Birzeit University, and was a Research Fellow in the School of Media, Communications and Sociology at the University of Leicester working on the ‘Decolonising the Curriculum’ research project Their recent publications include ‘The Spiritualization of Politics and the Technologies of Resistant Body: Conceptualizing Hunger Striking Subjectivity’ (Cultural Politics, Duke University Press) and the monograph, Reclaiming Humanity in Palestinian Hunger Strikes: Revolutionary Subjectivity and Decolonizing the Body (2022, Palgrave Macmillan).
