This book received the FWSA Book Prize 2018 and was shortlisted for the BSA / BBC Radio 4 Thinking Allowed Prize for Ethnography 2018. It was successfully nominated by Routledge to receive a Knowledge Unlatched award (2019), enabling the book to be made Open Access. The book was awarded the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry's Award for Best Qualitative Book in Spanish or Portuguese (2010 - 2014).
