Profile
Dr Igi Moon (they/them) is a non-binary researcher who is interested in providing a space for those students who want to explore trans and non binary pedagogy. Establishing the only course of its kind in the UK, the module 'Beyond the Binary' offers students an opportunity to explore and develop research embedded in the historical and contemporary experiences of trans gender people in relation to everyday social life in a local and global context; to critically analyse gender in relation to trans binary and non-binary meanings and how this cross cuts with race, impairment, class, sexuality, age, ethnicity, heritage, etc. Igi is focused on developing a trans-feminist perspective and in teaching Feminist Epistemologies, students are asked to develop a trans-feminist epistemology.
They are presently putting together a book submission based on the module and they are interested in producing creative trans methodologies. Igi has a clinical background in psychology and works within an interdisciplinary approach. At present they are also working in a gender clinic in London with people over the age of 16 yrs.
Igi is also Chair of the Memorandum of Understanding on Conversion Therapies, bringing together over 20 organisations wanting to ban conversion therapy including NHSE, NHSS, RCPsych; BACP; Gendered Intelligence and cliniQ. Together we hope to achieve the ban and are working with Government to achieve this ambition.
