Transport
Use public transport
Local buses offer a frequent and convenient way of travelling to and from campus. Details of services available and timetables can be found here.
If you are travelling from further afield, there are various rail stations that can be easily accessed from campus and they offer excellent links to Birmingham, London and many other UK cities. Further details are available here.
Travel rules
The university strongly encourages staff and students to travel over land rather than taking flights, wherever possible. To further discourage air travel a 'green levy' is applied by the university, as follows:
- £15 fee charged for any UK and European flights
- £60 fee charged for any non-European flights
Cycling
The University's Bicycle User Group (BUG) works to improve facilities for staff and students who ride bikes. In collaboration with Coventry City Council they have recently helped to create dedicated cycle routes in the immediate vicinity of the University; improve crossings over the A45; create safe bicycle routes to and from Kenilworth; and improve covered cycle parking.
Further information about cycling on campus including cycle parking spaces and shower facilities can be found here.
Campus Shuttle Bus
The West Midlands Bus on Demand is a new type of bus service as it does not follow a specific route or timetable. Instead, you simply book a journey and a bus will pick you up at a time and location of your choice. It operates on the University of Warwick campus and its surrounding areas so if you commute to campus but don't have a convenient bus service near you, West Midlands On Demand could be a flexible transport alternative.
Further information can be found here, or download the West Midlands Bus on Demand app on Google Play or iOS.
Car sharing
The university's carpooling scheme with Liftango is no longer in operation. It is developing car sharing initiatives to support sustainable travel and once in place details will be announced here.
Electric vehicle scheme
Salaried staff at the University of Warwick have the opportunity to acquire a new electric car on contract hire as part of the University's employee Reward and Benefits package. Further information about the Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme can be found here.
