Using your phone while abroad

If you use your mobile phone when travelling abroad the data charges can be very expensive (Recently there has been a £60 bill for just one day's use) .

Unless you turn off the data roaming function on your phone it will connect automatically. Instuctions for doing this on an iPhone can be found on the following page.

The proliferation of free wifi hotspots in hotels etc. does mean you will still be able to use your phone for email but you will not incur additional costs.

Roaming charges vary according to your location and can build up very quickly, the costs are detailed in the following table

Roaming - Europe Zone First 25MB Up to £4.25 Every 25MB thereafter £4.25. Data sessions counted per day from midnight to 11.59 UK time
