Woxbridge - Spring Doctoral Conference 2011
5th Annual Spring Doctoral Conference 12-13 April 2011
WBS, University of Warwick
Students, faculty and staff at WBS were delighted to host the recent Spring Doctoral Conference with students from Saïd and Judge Business Schools. There was a good response to the call for papers as can be seen from the list of presenters and the conference on this site. The variety of papers and posters shows the breadth of interesting research being undertaken at the three business schools.
The Spring Doctoral (or ‘Woxbridge’) Conference provides an excellent platform for doctoral students as academics in training to present their research in a supportive and constructive setting. Papers and posters were reviewed by student peers as well as academic discussants allowing for feedback as well as giving valuable presentation skills experience.
As Professor Jacky Swan, Associate Dean for the Doctoral Conference, said in her closing comments, delegates to Woxbridge are future colleagues who students will be meeting again and again in the years to come as their careers progress.
Three awards are made to the best papers from each of the three business schools. Winners this year were:
Kirill Zadadov & Henri Buchsteiner, Judge Business School, Cambridge, Bubbles and Crises in Open Economies
Tim Hannigan, Saïd Business School, Oxford, Innovation Rumour Communities: What Are the Implications of Online Rumours for the Firm's Innovation Process?
Miriam Marra, WBS, Warwick, Liquidity Commonality Across Equity and Credit Markets
Hosting Woxbridge rotates between the three business schools. Next year Saïd Business School will host the 6th Annual Spring Doctoral Conference.
Congratulations to prize winners and to all presenters. We hope that delegates found the two days interesting and useful.
