Recurrent Miscarriage

How can we make sure that every pregnancy has a happy ending?

Miscarriages happen more than you think. Unfortunately miscarriages are much more frequent than many of us realise - it's just that it is often a private sorrow and it isn't talked about. Even after a healthy birth, complications in the womb during pregnancy (such as diabetes during pregnancy) can cause life-long illnesses for the baby.

Professor Siobhan Quenby leads the Implantation Research Clinic at UHCW, and sees more than 500 new patients every year. Along with Professor Jan Brosens, she helps women who suffer from recurrent miscarriages and infertility to conceive and give birth to healthy babies. Their clinic is cited frequently on sites like Mumsnet, where Siobhan is referred to as one of the top three trusted "big names" in the UK for recurrent miscarriage treatment.

We’ve developed tests which tell us when patients need certain treatments, but the next step is to try and help patients before the pregnancy itself.

Siobhan's work is about healthy pregnancies and fewer couples suffering distress through loss. It's about healthy babies being born into loving homes and growing up to be healthy adults.
