We invited researchers, staff, students and graduates to share their views of the Monash Warwick Alliance.

What motivated you to work with the Monash Warwick Alliance?

In 2015, I was delighted to be approached by the Monash Warwick Alliance to co-lead the Intercultural 3-Stage Training project. As an early career researcher, and a newcomer in the Australian Higher Education sector, this project was a fantastic opportunity to connect with local and European colleagues. I tremendously enjoyed sharing experiences and perspectives on intercultural competence as a core attribute for preparing our graduates to become global citizens. For this reason, I accepted with enthusiasm to lead another two-year project on Internationalisation of students’ learning experience.

What are your top 3 collaboration achievements so far?

I believe that my work with the Monash Warwick Alliance is contributing to the development of a community of practice sharing the same passion for diversity and inclusion within, and beyond Higher Education. From my involvement in a student-lead project on internationalisation, I gained new insights to advance teaching and assessment practices based on equity, empathy, and open-mindedness. Supporting students’ voice on what matters to them within and outside the classroom, sharing endeavours for promoting cultural awareness and tolerance in teaching and learning spaces are for me the most valuable achievements in these projects.

What do you hope to ultimately achieve through your collaboration?

To summarise my past and current collaborations with students and staff in the Monash Warwick Alliance projects, I would say that I experienced a series of win-win situations. Despite all side effects of the pandemic, we have demonstrated that students-staff partnership and collaboration are key factors of success. Time and academic rhythm differences have not impeded our willingness to progress towards our ultimate goal – showing that teaching and learning are two sides of a precious coin. Longue vie à l’Alliance Monash-Warwick!
