Message about earthquake in Turkey and Syria
As a University, our thoughts are currently with everyone affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
Our University community is an international one and we understand that many of our students and staff may have friends and family in the affected regions.
There is always someone to speak to if you need emotional support during this difficult time.
For our staff you can contact our Employee Assistance Programme or seek support through the Staff Wellbeing Hub.
Our Chaplains are also available to support anyone at the University: people of all faiths and none. The Chaplaincy facilities are open Monday to Saturday 8:00am to 10:00pm, prayer resources and extra tea lights will be available in the Chapel. The Islamic Prayer facilities are available every day.
We have reached out directly to students who may be affected with details of support. Students can also contact the wellbeing team via the wellbeing portal
People have asked about how they can respond to this; various charitable organisations are coordinating humanitarian efforts that you can contribute to if you are able to, such as The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).
