French authorities have warned that an oil slick is heading towards the Nouvelle-Aquitaine coastline after an Italian cargo ship sank in the Atlantic. Dr Jessica Shepherd , Senior Teaching Fellow in Global Sustainable Development at the University of Warwick, explains the environmental risks.
