Cécile Doustaly, Cergy Paris Université, France & Fernandes Fellow 2020, University of Warwick
Monday 27 April, 2020, 12.30pm - 2pm, University of Warwick
In recent decades, urban and heritage paradigms have shifted greatly. Our definitions of 'cultural heritage' have widened. Heritagisation processes have expanded, and exposed the socially constructed and dynamic nature of heritage...
What does this mean for global cities whose size, power and complexity is growing exponentially?
How can heritage and development be mutually reinforcing?
How can policies and practices of heritage be integrated into wider urban change while respecting environmental, social and cultural concerns?
The lecture will also give insight into an ongoing project, HERITRISK, which analyses how heritagisation can limit project risks for Olympic Games cities, with a comparative outlook on Cities of Culture and Unesco World Heritage properties.
Lunch is included and will be served from 12.30-1.00 pm in IAS common room C006.
