Connecting Cultures at the Open Call Showcase Event

The Connecting Cultures team attended the Open Call Showcase Family Funday event at FarGo Village in Coventry at the beginning of October 2019. This event made public the findings of collaborative research projects which had been co-funded by Connecting Cultures and the Sustainable Cities GRP at Warwick and Coventry University, and featured presentations from project leads and interactive stalls for members of the public to talk about and experience elements of the research.

On our stall, we asked people to consider the question 'Are we more culturally connected now than we were ten years ago?' The results of this vote showed that just over three quarters of the people voting felt we were more culturally connected now. Those that didn't, or weren't sure, stressed in conversation the issues of social isolation and lack of connection within communities, which certainly points towards the need for the kinds of work in communities that we've been funding over the last few years, under our Culture and Community strand of work. We're delighted to be co-funding a new round of Open Call funding this year - click here for more details.
