Our GRP looks at a wide range of materials. All are vital for the development of future technology.

These include

• Hard materials: functional, adaptive, electronic and meta-material
• Soft materials: supramolecules, polymers, proteins, and in-vivo soft matter
• Materials for energy, catalysis and biomaterials
• Combinations of materials, their surfaces and interfaces, hard-soft material interfaces and composites

We have a range of activities aimed at material's development including

• Using nanofabrication and atomic scale characterisation to understand the science behind a material's properties
• Device fabrication
• Predictive modelling
• Application development
