Support for PRISMs at Warwick

At the University of Warwick, research culture is an integral part of our Research Strategy. We are committed to creating an environment where those who drive excellent research - including PRISMs (Professional Research Investment and Strategy Managers) - can thrive, with the freedom to grow and explore (Explore our Research Culture Roadmap ).

PRISMs play a critical role in building collaborative infrastructures and strengthening our research ecosystem. Recognising this contribution, Warwick is actively engaged in the national PRISM network and continues to contribute to the development and recognition of PRISMs at a sector level, including as co-leads of Research Professional Futures (RPF).

PRISM experience at Warwick

PRISMs at Warwick describe a working environment characterised by flexibility, trust, and opportunity for growth.

Common themes include:

  • Freedom to shape roles in response to emerging needs and opportunities
  • Strong trust from principal investigators
  • Scope to initiate and lead activities beyond formal job descriptions
  • Collaborative, rather than purely administrative, relationships with academic leaders

PRISMs also often act as “hidden enablers” within projects—identifying opportunities, connecting people, and driving activity forward in ways that significantly extend project impact.
