Centre for Polymers and Composites
The Centre for Polymers and Composites (CPC) at Warwick Manufacturing Group is a leading research centre in the field of plastics and composites. It offers extensive capabilities in materials formulation, processing, characterisation and simulation. Please contact Claire Gerard () to discuss your requirements.
Polymer Processing
The CPC offers advanced facilities for polymer compounding, extrusion, and injection moulding, enabling the development and optimisation of thermoplastic materials, formulations, and manufacturing processes for industrial applications.
Composite Processing
The centre provides expertise and equipment for both thermoset and thermoplastic composite manufacturing, including compression moulding, resin transfer moulding, and tape laying, supporting the design and scale-up of lightweight structural components.
Additive Manufacturing
The CPC supports polymer and composite additive manufacturing using technologies such as filament, pellet, and resin-based 3D printing, allowing rapid prototyping and functional part production with tailored material properties.
Elastomer Technology
The centre develops and characterises elastomeric materials and components, offering formulation, processing, and performance evaluation to improve durability, flexibility, and sustainability in rubber-based applications.
Characterisation - Mechanical Testing
The CPC conducts static, fatigue, and impact testing across a wide range of materials and structures, providing data to validate mechanical performance and durability.
Characterisation - Analytical Testing
The centre offers comprehensive analytical capabilities, including thermal analysis, microscopy, spectroscopy and rheometry, to understand material composition, processing behaviour, and failure mechanisms.
