We understand that starting University and moving away from home can be a challenging transition. Whilst most students are very happy once they move into their room on campus and meet their flatmates, there is the option to move room if you find you are struggling to settle in.
Room Transfers
Students who are already living on campus are now able to request a transfer to a different room.
Please bear in mind that room transfers are dependent on availability and we're unable to guarantee transfers as room availability is especially limited at the beginning of the academic year.
An alternative way to move rooms is to find another Warwick student living on campus who wishes to swap with you. This may be quicker than waiting for a room to become available through the room transfer process.
You can apply for a room transfer by completing our transfer request formLink opens in a new window. We advise students who apply for a transfer to note as many residence preferences as possible and provide details of additional room profile information i.e. single gender flat, quiet area, central campus location, alternative let length etc.
You can now request a room transfer - please see the FAQ 'How do I request a room transfer?' above for information on how to submit a transfer request.
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that we will be able to find you a suitable room, as this depends on what is currently available and also dependant on your transfer preferences. However, we will try our best to accommodate your transfer request.
Typically there is more availability in shared bathroom residences, so you may wish to take this into consideration when you apply for a room transfer and note your residence preferences.
Please bear in mind that we are unable to provide updates on the progress of your transfer request. You'll need to wait until you hear from us and we will be in touch with you when a suitable room becomes available.
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee at what stage during the year we can meet your transfer request and availability of rooms is especially limited at the beginning of the academic year.
Yes. We encourage students to note as many residence preferences as possible when requesting a room transfer.
You can now request a direct room swap. Please see the below FAQ 'How do I request a direct room swap?' for information on how to do this from the date above.
To request a direct room swap, you need to find another student who would like to swap rooms with you. You can only request a direct room swap once our room moves process opens on Monday 7 October.
To request a direct room swap, both students must email accommodation@warwick.ac.uk and include the full names and 7 digit Warwick IDs of the students involved as well as the proposed date of the direct swap. We will then check whether the swap is permitted and email both students to confirm next steps. If the direct room swap is permitted, you may be required to authorise a new contract before moving into the new room. Please be aware that you will be responsible for any cleaning required in your room before you complete the room swap.
All confirmed room transfers and direct room swaps will incur a £50.00 administrative fee which will be added to your student account.
As we are unable to provide updates on the progress of your transfer request and we cannot guarantee at what stage during the year we can offer you a transfer, we recommend you also get in touch with your Residential Community TeamLink opens in a new window who may be able to help during the period of time you are waiting to hear from us. Your Residential Community Team can offer support with whatever concerns or worries you may have.
