Allocation Principles

The majority of applications from students holding an unconditional firm offer are allocated through a campus accommodation computer ballot. This ballot aims to match students to one of their seven preferred campus residences.

The ballot will take place after 18 August 2026 for all students who meet our university-allocated accommodation guarantee conditions. Application date does not influence the outcome of the ballot. Any student who meets the conditions at any point before 18 August 2026 will be considered equally in the allocation process.

The outcome of the ballot determines the accommodation students are allocated to.

Your selected campus preferences are always taken into consideration; however, we cannot guarantee that you will be allocated to one of them. Around 65% of our campus rooms are en suite, and demand for these can exceed availability. As you may be allocated to a shared bathroom residence, we would advise that you only select shared bathroom preferences that you would be happy with. It is also possible that accommodation options will be added or removed after you have applied and you may be allocated to an option that was not advertised when your application was submitted.

Any students who are not allocated a room on campus through the ballot will be allocated to our off campus partnership accommodation.

We will continue to allocate eligible students who meet our conditions after 18 August 2026 on a rolling basis, across both our campus residences and partnership accommodation, subject to availability.

When applying online for accommodation you will need to select seven campus residencesLink opens in a new window as your preferences.

• You can select a maximum of four en suite options.
• You will need to select a minimum of three shared bathroom options.
• You can select either Arthur Vick or Bluebell, but not both.
• You are only able to select one preference from Cryfield Apartments, Cryfield Townhouses or Lakeside.

During the online application process, you’ll also be asked some profile questions about your habits and hobbies. For students who are allocated to a room on campus, we aim to use this information to match you with flatmates to help create harmonious households.

Please be aware that you will not be asked to select any partnership accommodation options during your application. If you are allocated to our partnership accommodation off campus, details of the options available and the process to follow will be provided when you receive your accommodation offer.

If you are allocated to our off campus partnership accommodation, the contract for your room will be made directly between you and the private accommodation provider. You can be assured that you’ll remain fully part of the Warwick community, with access to student services, wellbeing support, and the wide range of events and activities on campus. We also aim to accommodate Warwick students together wherever possible to help build a strong sense of community.

Our partnership residences are carefully selected, offering convenient access to direct public transport links to campus or within walking distance. All rooms include en suite bathrooms and access to modern shared kitchens, with consistently high standards across all sites.

Offers of partnership accommodation are issued in batches which helps us manage availability and build communities. This means that some students may receive information regarding their partnership accommodation offer earlier than others. Application date does not influence the timing of your partnership accommodation offer.

We recognise that some students may have a medical condition or support needs that may affect their accommodation allocation, including physical and hidden disabilities.

If you have specific requirements for your accommodation, such as needing to live on campus, an en suite room, or level access, you’ll need to complete our specific accommodation requirements process.

Our Wellbeing and Student Support team will guide you through the process and ensure your requirements are properly assessed and understood.

To ensure any approved requirements can be met from the start of the contract, you’ll need to ensure you meet the conditions of our university-allocated accommodation guarantee and it is essential that you also follow our specific accommodation requirements processLink opens in a new window and contact Wellbeing and Student Support through their wellbeing portal. They will assess your needs and provide appropriate guidance.

All requests must be fully assessed and approved by 17:00 on 17 August 2026. Requests approved after this date will be considered, but accommodation will be allocated depending on suitable availability.

Students who will be under 18 on 24 September 2026 and meet our guarantee conditions will be prioritised and allocated to an en suite room on campus and will only be able to select en suite options for their residence preferences when applying online.

Students who do not meet our guarantee conditions and will be under 18 on 24 September 2026 will be prioritised for a room on campus, subject to availability.

Students aged 17 on 24 September 2026 who would like to be considered for a shared bathroom residence (such as for financial reasons) need to email accommodation@warwick.ac.ukLink opens in a new window by 12:00 on 17 August 2026 and include their shared bathroom residence preferences. The Residential Community Team will then consider any requests on an individual basis.

Only students aged 16 and over on 24 September 2026 will be considered for campus accommodation. All students who will be under 18 at the point of entry should be aware that they are applying to live in an adult environment.

Care leavers or estranged students may be eligible for 52-week campus accommodation for the duration of their studies. You can find out more about the support available at Warwick for care leavers and for estranged students.

We can offer a room on campus for care leavers and estranged students who meet the conditions of our university-allocated accommodation guarantee and follow the lifecycle process as outlined above by 18 August 2026.

We will continue to allocate eligible care leavers and estranged students who meet our university-allocated accommodation guarantee conditions after 18 August 2026 on a rolling basis, subject to availability, across our campus residences and partnership accommodation.

Our university-allocated accommodation guarantee is extended to students who apply to Warwick through clearing. Depending on demand for accommodation, clearing students may not be included in our campus accommodation computer ballot and most offers of accommodation for clearing applicants are likely to be for rooms in our partnership accommodation off campus.

We encourage clearing students to submit their accommodation application as early as possible via our website.

We will continue to allocate eligible clearing students who meet our conditions after 18 August 2026 on a rolling basis, subject to availability.

If you book a room on campus and your course of study commences before our earliest contract start date in Term One of the 2026/2027 academic year, you will need to source your own accommodation until you are able to move into your room on campus.

Eligible postgraduate students can book a room on campus using our instant booking portal. Students can check the availability of rooms and simply select an available residence and type of room they’d like to book.

Depending on availability there may be rooms with a specific room profile assigned that can be selected during the booking process i.e. quiet or single gender area.

Rooms on campus are in high demand and often become fully allocated, particularly as we approach the start of the academic year.

We sometimes find that rooms become available after being fully allocated. Should this happen, rooms will automatically reappear in the booking portal for eligible students to book.

We encourage postgraduate students to check the booking portal periodically for updates on availability.

Students studying on the 4, 6 or 10 week face-to-face Pre-Sessional English Programme have the option to book a room on campus and must hold an unconditional firm (UF) offer of study to be eligible to book a room on campus, subject to availability.

In order to be eligible for campus accommodation all students are required to have registered student status. Postgraduate students who fail the Pre-Sessional English programme will no longer have registered student status and as a result, will no longer be eligible for accommodation. In such cases, the offer of accommodation will be withdrawn, even if the student meets the remainder of their course conditions. Students who have already moved into their accommodation will be required to leave and will be charged for the period of their stay up until departure.
