Allocation Principles

Our Allocation Principles explain how accommodation at the University of Warwick is allocated, who is eligible, and the key steps and deadlines students need to be aware of.
We hope that being clear about the process students should follow, including how we take individual needs into account, helps students feel confident and well supported as they begin their time at Warwick.
New, full-time first year undergraduate and International Foundation Programme students (excluding MBChB students and degree apprentices) who have accepted (Firm or Insurance) their offer of study at the University of Warwick for the 2026/2027 academic year are eligible to apply for accommodation.
Whilst most first year undergraduate students live on campus, some will live in our off campus partnership accommodation.
If you are applying to study at Warwick through clearing, please make sure you read the Clearing Students section, as the allocation process and what you can expect differs.
Our University-Allocated Accommodation Guarantee
Eligible students (including those who are restarting from year one of an undergraduate course) who meet the following conditions will be guaranteed an offer of university-allocated accommodation. University-allocated accommodation includes rooms on campus or off campus in our partnership accommodation.
To be guaranteed an offer of university-allocated accommodation as a new, full-time student you will have:
- Submitted your accommodation application online by 18 August 2026.
- Held an unconditional firm offer of study at Warwick by 18 August 2026. (Whether Warwick was originally your firm or insurance choice)
You are eligible to book a room on campus if you are a first year or returning postgraduate taught (PGT) or postgraduate research (PGR) student and hold an unconditional firm (UF) offer of study at Warwick on a full-time course at the University for the full 2026/2027 academic year.
Postgraduate accommodation on campus is limited and bookable on a first-come first-served basis, subject to availability.
- Accommodation eligibility criteria for MBChB students, students studying on a part-time course and incoming study abroad students known to the Student Mobility Department differ from the criteria outlined above. Incoming study abroad students can apply for campus accommodation, however this would not be guaranteed.
