Warwick Conferences have been selected as finalists in the Team of the Year – Events and Operations category of the Meetings Industry Association (Mia) List 2023.

The team have had a phenomenal year, hosting over 21,000 events and almost a quarter of a million delegates. During this time, a wide range of events have taken place, including conferences, celebrations, training sessions and Graduations.

Warwick Conferences also successfully hosted a number of large sporting events, including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, providing an Athletes village and co-hosted the International Children’s Games.

As part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games over 2000 international athletes stayed on campus from 47 countries. This was a 24-hour operation, with the team serving250,000 meals tailored for athletes’ diets.

The team supported the biggest Graduation ceremonies in the University of Warwick’s history. Last summer almost 40,000 graduates and guests attended celebrations at the University of Warwick. As well as holding degree ceremonies for the graduates of 2022, Warwick invited graduates of 2020 and 2021 back to campus with their family and friends to formally mark their achievements.

The Meetings Industry Association is the principal association supporting and growing the business meetings and events industry and the keeper of AIM Secure – the UK’s only recognised quality standard for the sector.

The results of the miaList will be announced at a celebratory event on Friday 6 October at Park Plaza Victoria London.
