The conference, meeting and events venue at the University of Warwick has won the Events & Operations Team of the Year Award at The Meetings and Industry Associations miaList 2023.
The national accolade came a week after the team was also shortlisted for Event Caterer of the Year at the Coventry and Warwickshire Foodie Awards.
Andrew Taylor, Head of Conference Centres, said:
“This is a fantastic achievement and well-deserved honour for our amazing team. We are proud to be recognised as the best in the sector.
This award reaffirms our excellent understanding of the market, exceeding the expectations of our clients and having a strategic plan for future development with clear goals.
It is testament to our team who go above and beyond to make events across our four venues memorable and effective experiences, from small meetings to large, residential events."
The success comes after a phenomenal year, hosting over 21,000 events and almost a quarter of a million delegates. During this time, a wide range of events have taken place, including conferences, celebrations, training sessions and graduations.
Warwick Conferences also successfully hosted a number of large sporting events, including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, providing an Athletes village and co-hosted the International Children’s Games.
As part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games over 2000 international athletes stayed on campus from 47 countries. This was a 24-hour operation, with the team serving 250,000 meals tailored for athletes’ diets.
The Meetings Industry Association is the principal association supporting and growing the business meetings and events industry and the keeper of AIM Secure – the UK’s only recognised quality standard for the sector.
The awards are designed to honour teams working in the business meetings and events industry who have collectively made a significant impact on their organisations. The awards ceremony took place at Park Plaza Victoria London on Friday 6th October 2023.
