In-person Re-start a heart day event - Sat 16th Oct

#RestartAHeart day events

Warwick Resuscitation for Medical Disciplines (RMD) Society, in collaboration with Warwick First Aid Society and the Community Values Education Programme, are hosting a number of events for this years’ Resuscitation Council UK’s #RestartAHeart day. We would like to welcome all students and staff to join us on campus at the main Piazza on Wednesday 13th October from 13:00 to practice Covid-safe Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

The vital importance of immediate CPR and swift AED use was highlighted very publicly this summer following the collapse of Danish footballer Christian Eriksen at Euro 2020. In the UK survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest remain stubbornly low, with fewer than one in ten people surviving. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation of the heart reduces the chance of survival by up to 10%. Early CPR and AED use will at least double someone’s chances of survival, and both of these can be done by a member of the public before the ambulance service arrives.

With this in mind, we would to encourage all of you to drop by. If you can’t make it to the Piazza on Wednesday 13th October, we are holding a similar event at Cannon Park Shopping Centre (Lynchgate Road, CV4 7EH) on Saturday 16th October.
