Revisions to Regulation 8 - Pass Mark

Following approval of the Senate in March 2010 and the Council in May 2010, Regulation 8 governing  first degrees has been revised to premit students to carry forward the 40% pass mark achieved via a resit examination.

Revisions to Regulation 34 - Fitness to Practise

At its meeting held on October 2008, the Council approved, on the recommendation of the Senate, revisions to Regulation 34 including the Diploma in Person Centred (Rogerian) Counselling and Psychotherapy within the remit of the Fitness to Practise Committee.  The Diploma has subsequently been replaced by a Foundation Degree and BA in Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy, noting both new courses were approved by the Board of Undergraduate Studies in June 2009.

The revisions to Regulation 34, as approved by the Vice-Chancellor and the Pro-Chancellor on behalf of the Senate and the Council respectively, provides for the new courses.

Revisions to Regulation 23 - Disciplinary Regulations

The Vice-Chancellor and the Pro-Chancellor have approved, on behalf of the Senate and the Council respectively, revisions to Regulation 23 to permit a Pro-Vice-Chancellor acting on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor to chair the Appeals Committee of the Senate and to also state that the Registrar shall receive and consider in the first instance cases for the Appeals Committee (previously the Deputy Vice-Chancellor).

Amendments to the University Charter and Statutes

The University submitted a request to the Privy Council to make revisions to its Charter and Statutes , including the abolition of the Court.  The Privy Council with the Queen in session granted final approval the proposed amendments on 15 October 2009 and these have been implemented in the online version of the Calendar. The necessary revisions to Ordinances and Regulations to reflect provision within the revised Charter and Statutes are being considered.
