Faculty Research and Impact Committee (Social Sciences)
Statement of Purpose:
The Faculty Research and Impact Committee is responsible for the strategic overview of the implementation of the University Research Strategy within the Schools/Departments and across the Faculty.
The Committee has strategic overview of Faculty-level approaches to key sub strategies including impact, research culture, research infrastructure, research funding, research partnerships, interdisciplinary research and research communication.
It has responsibility for enabling work within the Faculty, its Schools and Departments to:
- share best practice and knowledge in relation to research and impact plans and innovations at all academic levels.
- facilitate collaboration on research and impact between Schools/Departments in the Faculty, between Faculties, and with University research entities including Institutes and Spotlights.
- enhance research environment and culture.
- inform development and application of research and impact policy.
The Committee has a remit across and champions the breadth of the Faculty's research activity. It provides a formal mechanism for views, recommendations and proposals to University Research Committee from Schools/Departments and Faculties, while also providing a forum for informal discussion of research-related priorities. It facilitates and coordinates downwards the actions that lie on departments (e.g. REF planning) and makes recommendations upwards (e.g. research centres).
