Terms of Reference

To approve:

  1. The appointment and periods of appointment of individuals to membership of the Senate, its committees and its panels, within the parameters set by the Senate when approving terms of reference and appointment processes.
  2. The development and implementation of initiatives that promote inclusive and diverse membership of the Senate and its sub-committees.

To recommend to the Senate:

  1. The process for open calls, nominations and appointments to the membership of the Senate, its committees and its panels.
  2. Proposals to revise the constitution of the Senate, its committees and its panels where such changes may help to further embed the Senate’s approved Principles of Good Academic Governance.
  3. Advice on other matters relating to academic governance, as requested by the Senate.

To receive:

  1. Reports on the proactive steps to attract nominations, applications and suggestions for appointment to membership of the Senate and its Sub-Committees from within the University.
  2. Reports on matters relating to academic governance referred to it by the Senate, its committees and its panels.

To report:

  1. To provide an annual report to the Senate on the Panel’s activities and the extent to which the membership of the Senate and its Sub-Committees is diverse, representative of the University community and appropriate to the interests of the University.
