How to connect to eduroam on Linux
The following instructions were created using the Linux Ubuntu distribution. It should be possible to work out the correct settings for other Linux distributions using the settings below.
Before proceeding with the manual setup guide on this page, you may wish to try the automated tool available at https://cat.eduroam.org
Manual setup
- Click the Network icon in the top right corner, select Wi-Fi and then click Select Network.
- In the Wi-Fi Network list select eduroam.
- Configure network security with the following settings:
Wireless Security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Anonymous Identity: <leave blank>
CA Certificate: <see notes below>
PEAP version: Automatic
Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
Username: enter your University of Warwick (UoW) usercode in the format u1234567@warwick.ac.uk
Password: your UoW account password - Under the CA Certificate field, navigate to the location of your certificate store.
In Linux Ubuntu and Linux Mint this is located in /etc/ssl/certs and may be different for other flavours of Linux. Select the “Comodo_AAA_Services_root.pem” certificate.
- Verify the settings and then click Connect.
The connection will now be negotiated, followed by a Connected message.
