Postgrad Hub FAQs

Using the PG Hub

What is the purpose of the PG Hub?

We provide a space for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students to access support and resources dedicated to their needs. Postgraduate students can work and share experiences in the PG Hub in the broadest context of postgraduate life, not just study.

What study space is there in the PG Hub?

At present there is space for independent study only, due to Covid-19 restrictions. When we are able to lift restrictions, there will be areas in place for group study, along with bookable group study rooms.

Is there a silent study space in the PG Hub?

The PG Hub has a dedicated quieter study area, but there currently is no silent study area here.

What can and can't users do in the space?

The PG Hub would normally be a flexible space for study, group work, networking and informal and formal sessions. Group work in the form of discussion, problem-solving, brainstorming and presentation activities would be encouraged, and mobile phone would be tolerated. However, due to Covid-19 restrictions the PG Hub currently only offers independent study, and while a certain amount of noise is tolerated, we ask that you respect the space and other users.

The PG Hub is a Library-managed study space and is subject to the same rules and regulations as the Library. Details can be viewed here:

There is a Facilities team member on duty at all times in case you have any questions about regulations.

Is it possible to eat and drink in the PG Hub?

Hot and cold drinks are allowed inside the Hub, and cold food is allowed inside the Hub. No hot food or alcohol is allowed to be brought into the space, unless this is linked to a booked event and arranged in advance. Hot food packaging in form of boxes or containers should not be taken into the PG Hub regardless of whether the contents are cold.

What equipment does the PG Hub have?

There are a number of networked desktop computers in the Hub, and plug sockets throughout the space into which you can connect your own laptop.

Are the computers bookable in the PG Hub?

The computers are accessible on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Are there printing and photocopying facilities available in the PG Hub?

Yes, an IT Services printer is available for use, using standard printer credits. Scanning and photocopying functions are available through the printer.

Is there wireless internet access in the PG Hub?

The Hub has wireless internet access through all the usual wireless networks offered in the University.

What are the terms and conditions for using the PG Hub?

When using these facilities you must comply with the University of Warwick Acceptable Use policy. See:

Users are not permitted to stream live sports or music events through technologies within the PG Hub. Users are not permitted to link computer game consoles through technologies within the PG Hub.

You are bound by acts of parliament including the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and the Copyright and Patents Act 1988. BE AWARE that infringement of copyright is an offence under law. Access to the PG Hub

Who has access to the PG Hub?

The PG Hub is open to all postgraduate students (including those who have finished their coursework but are still accessing support services while waiting to graduate) and university staff.

You will need your University ID card to enter the Postgrad Hub. Postgraduate students and staff without current and active cards will be denied access.

As part of the measures put in place to combat Covid-19, you will need to tap your card in and out at the Facilities Desk upon entry and exit, so that we can track who has used the space during specific periods of time. We thank you for your co-operation with us on this.

What do I do if my card won't let me in?

If you are a current postgraduate student and your card does not work, please email us at pghub at warwick dot ac dot uk with your University ID number. We will investigate and get back to you as soon as we can.

Can I arrange a tour for my students?

Yes, we would be delighted to offer a tour. However, please be aware that with social distancing measures and limited capacities in place at the moment, this will be reviewed on a day-to-day basis.

Please email pgcommunity at warwick dot ac dot uk to arrange a tour.

How can I stay in touch online?

You can follow us on Twitter and on Facebook to stay up to date with news and events, or you can email us at pgcommunity at warwick dot ac dot uk.
