Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2022

As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, read on to learn more about staff apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships and how we're supporting businesses in the region.

Staff apprenticeships

In the 12 months up to February 2022, we have more than doubled the amount of Warwick staff who are currently studying towards an apprenticeship, to over 80!

Increasingly, we are seeing many existing staff who are completing a qualification funded by the apprenticeship levy. We are very proud of the amazing achievements of all our apprentices, which will be celebrated at a graduation event on campus in May.

"The best thing about the apprenticeship was the mixture of learning methods. It was fast-paced, practical, varied and really engaging. I am able to apply learning directly back into the workplace which brought immediate impact."

Read our case studies to hear more about our apprentices' achievements and what it's like to undertake an apprenticeship while working at Warwick.

Explore our new apprenticeship webpages, with key information for managers, staff and potential new apprentices in one place. You can also join us at an information event for Warwick staff or line managers to find out how to access learning opportunities funded via the apprenticeship levy.

We have introduced a number of new Warwick development programmes supported by the apprenticeship levy funding. Find out more about our Team Leader Development Programme and Coaching Professional Programme opportunities.

Degree apprenticeships

Warwick has a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree apprenticeships in digital, engineering, health and business. A degree apprenticeship is a great opportunity to achieve a Warwick degree without the tuition fee debt, whilst learning skills on-the-job.

Find out more about the programmes we deliver and see if there is one relevant to your job role.

Regional impact

In November 2019, the University pledged to donate £280k per year of our unspent levy via the West Midlands Combined Authority scheme, to support the SMEs in the West Midlands region to access apprenticeships linked to science, technology, engineering and medicine.

To date, we have supported 33 SME organisations and funded 41 apprenticeships, including Infrastructure Technicians, Software Developers and Installation Technicians.

We will also be hosting a virtual booth at Coventry Hub Careers event, which will be accessed by 7000 pupils across Leicestershire and Warwickshire, showcasing Warwick as an employer as well as a provider of apprenticeships.
