Overview:

Open Access is changing the face of academic publishing and transforming the way the academic community shares and disseminates research.

To help researchers at Warwick negotiate this changing landscape, the Library has created a collection of online resources and webinars, which explore the benefits and challenges of Open Access, as well as providing practical advice on finding and using Open Access materials and making your own research outputs openly accessible.

This online course provides an introduction to the concept of Open Access and explores some of the benefits and challenges offered by OA publishing. It also offers in-depth guidance on finding and using Open Access materials to inform your research and practical advice on OA publishing.

Who is it for?
University of Warwick Research Active Staff (staff on Research-focussed, Teaching-focussed and Research and Teaching contracts) and Postgraduate Researchers.

Workshop enables Research Active Staff (RAS) to:

• Gain an understanding of Open Access and its influence on the current publishing environment
• Learn more about the different routes to OA and their effect on how research outputs are shared and discovered
• Explore tools and techniques for locating Open Access content and using and citing it in your own research
• Discover how to make your own research openly accessible, meet funder and other mandates and avoid falling victim to predatory publishers
• Consider the future direction of Open Access

The course is divided into five modules, each focusing on a different aspect of Open Access. Each module is designed to standalone, so you can either follow the course from start to finish, or select the sections that are most relevant to your own research.
