RCT blog
This blog is an opportunity for students to read and share stories and experiences of residential life at university. It’s a space to find out more about how students before you have navigated their residential journey; what worked and also what didn’t, things you need to know and things you may not have thought about!
Our mission is to create a positive study and workplace wellbeing environment and a space for wellbeing conversations and contemplation.
We strive to build a community where wellbeing is a shared value and responsibility.
We treat everyone and every voice with respect and the right to remain anonymous.

Student Ambassador Recruitment
The Pre-University Summer School (PRESS) is a 10-night residential programme for 15-17 year olds, who wish to experience what it is like to study at undergraduate level at a top UK university. We offer a choice of three courses, A Taste of Economics and Finance, A Taste of Social Sciences, A Taste of Science and Engineering. Alongside their academic pathway students also undertake skills and development sessions and experience a busy wraparound social programme including a welcome BBQ, team-building evet, bowling, day trips to Oxford and London including a West End show. It is a really exciting programme, and we try to make sure that the students have a brilliant student experience during their time with us!
We appoint a team of Student Ambassadors and two Senior Student Ambassadors to support the programme. The Ambassadors play a very important role because they help us meet our legal duty to safeguard these students while they are on the programme; they create a welcoming and inclusive environment and encourage active participation in all elements of the programme; they enhance the student experience by sharing their own experiences of applying to university and student life.
The Student Ambassadors and Senior Student Ambassadors are required to stay overnight in accommodation with the students for the duration of the programme, so on campus accommodation in Halls of Residence is provided as part of the remuneration package. The 10-night programme is fully catered and this is also included for ambassadors. Accommodation is also provided the night before the programme begins (Monday 18 July).
