Working Parents Workshops

The University is facilitating 3 workshops over the spring/summer terms of 2018 that are open to all working parents of at the university. The workshops will be provided by a local business based in Kenilworth: Career Mums "the return to work experts".

The content of each workshop will be as described below:

Session 1 - 10 January 2018, 12.30-13.30pm, R2.41 (Ramphal): Creating quality family time and family wellbeing.

At this lunch-time session, Sally Dhillon, Co-founder Career-Mums Partnership, will lead a discussion for working parents who work at Warwick on creating quality family time and family well-being. This is an opportunity to share strategies that work for you as well as challenges that you may have encountered around creating time for one another that helps families to thrive.

Life tends to be busy with lots of demands on your time and compromises to be made along the way – how do you support your family’s wellbeing and carve out quality family time together?

Sally will share her 5 top tips for family wellbeing.

The session will also include a short general child development segment along with discussion and agreement of a child development focus for the next lunchtime session.

Session 2 - 14 March 2018, 12.30-13.30pm: Flexible working .

At this lunch-time session, Sally Dhillon, Co-founder Career-Mums Partnership, will lead a discussion and exploration for working parents who work at Warwick on flexible working.

What does flexible working mean for you? Do you feel sufficiently supported to work flexibly that supports the completion of your job responsibilities along with needs to work in a flexible manner? How do you make flexible working work for you and your team?

Sally will share her 5 top tips for getting the most out of flexible working.

The session will also include a short general child development segment as agreed at the previous lunchtime session.

Session 3 - 23 May 2018, 12.30-13.30pm: Career development planning and parenting.

At this lunch-time session, Sally Dhillon, Co-founder Career-Mums Partnership, will lead a discussion on career development planning and parenting.

Is it possible to be the parent you want to be and have a successful career? Have your career aspirations changed as you have become a parent? How do you create time for career development activity in a busy life? What are the challenges of being a parent and wanting to progress in your career? Do you feel sufficiently supported to further your career?

Sally will share her 5 top tips for career development planning.

The session will also include a short general child development segment as agreed at the January lunchtime session.
