Netball rules
1. Organisation
The League is organised and delivered by Warwick Sport in partnership with the University of Warwick Women’s Netball Club and the University of Warwick Mixed Netball Club.
The League will be managed by the Warwick Sport Sports Engagement Officer and supported by the League activators. This Engagement Officer and the league activators will have the final say on all matters of the league.
All captains (or nominated team member) must attend a compulsory captain meeting ahead of the season starting. Details of when this will take place will be sent to all captains prior to the start of their league.
2. Squads
- The captain must register the team to the Warwick Sport Active Leagues.
- The Squad may consist of between 5 to 20 players.
- At least five players must be present in order to play a match. A game of five aside will result in the “wing” positions being removed and GS and GK playing like GA and GD.
- Players who wish to play for more than one team must register with both teams and is up to the player’s discretion who they play for should the two teams play together.
- A points system will operate to restrict the number of University of Warwick Women and Mixed Netball club players on court at any one time.
- First team players regarded as 4 points, second team players as 3 points and third team players as 2 points.
- A maximum of 9 points may be reached.
- All players must be registered to their team on PlaywazeLink opens in a new window and captains must email the team name to warwickactive@warwick.ac.uk.
3. General Rules
- Matches will consist of 4 x 10 minute quarters
- Points will be awarded as follows:
- 3 points for a win
- 1 point for a draw
- 0 points for a loss
- A team forfeits a game if they fail to present five team players on court within 10 minutes of the start time
- 72 hours’ notice is required for cancellation or rearrangement of fixtures. Cancellations after this deadline will automatically result in 15-0 win to the opponent.
- Rearranged fixtures to be coordinated with League Activator and Sport Engagement Officer.
- All communication and updates will be made via the Active League Teams channelLink opens in a new window, which all captains must register on.
- All players must book on to each session as a participant to enable Warwick Sport facility access for matches.
4. Fixtures
- Fixtures for the term will be uploaded to Playwaze.
- If a team cannot make a fixture, they must inform the League Activator as soon as possible and at least 72 hours before the match.
- The format of the league will depend on entries and is at the discretion of the League Activator.
5. Results
- Results will be inputted by the League Activator on to Playwaze
- League position shall be decided upon:
- Points obtained
- Matches won
- Goal difference
6. Disputes
- In the case of a dispute teams should first contact the League Activator.
- If there is disagreement with the decision of the League Activator or Sport Engagement Officer, the matter shall be referred to the Active Wellbeing Manager, who’s decision is final.
7. Conduct
Team captains are encouraged to report any misconduct to the relevant Sport Engagement Officer overseeing the league.
Should a team, or players from a team, indulge in any actions that are deemed by the organisers to be detrimental to the good spirit of the league, then the organisers are entitled to take appropriate action. This may include, but is not limited to, suspension of players, loss of points, exclusion from the competition with no refund given and referral to the University’s student conduct team. 8. League refunds
- Refunds will not be issues for teams failing to attend fixtures at any point during the time allocated for the league.
- Refunds will only be issued if Warwick Sport has to cancel the entire Active League before its commencement.

Your League Activator will be in contact via email once the sign-up deadline has passed to provide information around the captain’s meeting, first fixture dates, format etc.
