My name is Molly. I am currently in my second year studying Biomedical science and am also training in Karate.
I went to my first Karate lesson aged 4. Now 15 years later I have achieved multiple European and World championship Golds and have had so many incredible experiences because of my sport.
Karate is important to me as whether it’s the next grading or the next big competition, I always have goals to aim for.
Through karate I have met people from all over the world and travelled to many different countries to represent my club and country which is a huge honour.
Coming to University, joining the University of Warwick Karate club, being accepted onto theSports Scholarship Programme, and making use of the Sports and Wellness Hub’s facilities has given me so many more opportunities to develop in my sport, and this is only a fraction of what Team Warwick has to offer.
The gym and Combat Room have given me space to become stronger, faster, and more refined in my Karate. The scholarship has introduced me to other like-minded athletes and created a great sense of community between us, celebrating every win together, and through joining the Karate Club not only have I gained some sparring partners, but also some friends. Thanks to these I have since achieved silver at the Student National Championships in 2021 and two golds, a silver and a bronze at the European Championships in 2022.
Team Warwick, emphasis on ’Tteam’, has given me everything I need to become the athlete I am, and more.
I feel like I have a support system and home within the university thanks to the people who work hard to make Team Warwick what it is.
