Warwick to host commonwealth games athletes in 2022

Wednesday 12 August 2020

The Warwick campus is to become an Athletes Village during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

We’ll be hosting international athletes at our multi award-winning campus hospitality venues, Warwick Conferences, and providing unlimited training access in our world-class Sports & Wellness Hub, which is part of a £49m investment into campus sports at Warwick.

Hear from Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Director of Sport & Active Communities, as she talks about the exciting new announcement.

Designed to inspire and motivate everyone to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle, the Sports and Wellness Hub features a large state-of-the-art gym, 12-lane 25-metre swimming pool complete with a movable floor, fitness class studio spaces, climbing and bouldering walls, squash and netball courts, a huge Sports Arena, and outdoor pitches.

The team at Warwick has significant experience in hosting sports events and Warwick is one of the world’s most international campuses so it’s no surprise that our facilities were identified as ‘best-in-class’ by the 2022 Games organisers.
