Warwick Sport takes home two national sector awards
On Thursday 12 July we were awarded two national sector awards for our participation programme at Warwick and our reshaping sport campaign in the ‘take a stand award’ in the most recent BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Conference where Universities from across the UK come together to share, discuss and honour best practice across the sector.
The Participation award recognises the BEST participation /active programme in the entire UK HE sector demonstrating the positive impact it has on student wellbeing.
The #TakeAStand award is awarded to the University that is the best at creating initiatives that tackle discrimination in sport, widening participation, and make sport more inclusive for marginalised communities.
In addition, Warwick were also awarded a excellence kite mark in Physical Activity Excellence, one of only 10 Universities in the UK. This award recognises excellence in physical activity programmes that demonstrate real positive impacts on student and staff health and wellbeing.
These awards are testament to the strong partnership University of Warwick boasts between the Students Union and and Warwick Sport.
This demonstrates Warwick as sector leading in these programmes and, also, clearly demonstrates the positive impact these programmes play on student health and wellbeing and the subsequent wider benefits Warwick enjoy. The British Active Student Survey published at conference highlights the impact of sport on employability, academic performance and positive mental wellbeing, showing that students who are involved in sport or being active at University clearly demonstrate higher levels of employability, better academic performance and more positive mental health.
Thanks for all your continuous support. #activecampus
