The Senior Leadership reporting to the Registrar are responsible for a number of the operational groups of Professional Services:

Academic Registrar (Director, Education Group)

Adam is responsible for services supporting the whole student journey comprising Education Policy & Quality, Student Administrative Services, Student Opportunity, Widening Participation, Outreach, Admissions, Doctoral College, Student Complaints & Academic Casework, and Flexible and Online Learning.

The University HR department is responsible for HR strategy, HR services, policy and practice institution wide, through proactive line management support and staff engagement, advice and delivery of HR solutions, promoting positive employee relations, organisational development opportunities plus recruitment, academic processes, reward, benefits and talent management.

Director, Innovation

David Plumb is Warwick’s Chief innovation officer. As the leader of the Innovation Group his teams help academic colleagues commercialise research and spin out companies through Warwick Innovations (Ventures), supports students gaining entrepreneurial experience and starting businesses via Warwick Enterprise, and helps midlands businesses start, scale and pivot on the Science Park. Director, Legal & Compliance Services

Rachel leads the in-house Legal and Compliance Services team and is also the University’s Data Protection Officer. The team provides advice to all areas of the University including in relation to commercial contracts, dispute resolution, data protection, compliance risk and regulatory matters. It also assists in the procurement of external specialist legal advice.

As the lead of the University’s central research office, Research and Impact Services, Navdeep is responsible for for the provision of expert practitioner support in the areas of Research Grants & Contracts, Research Strategy & Development, Research Communications, Export Control, Research Impact, the REF, KEF, Research Planning, Research Integrity & Governance, and the Programme Management of Institutional Funds to support impact and innovation.

Director, Student Discipline and Resolution

Helen leads the Student Discipline and Resolution team has overall responsibility for the effective and empathetic delivery of processes relating to student misconduct (non-academic) disclosures and reports through to disciplinary action. This starts with the Student Liaison Team who run the University’s Report and Support portal, covering disclosure of sexual misconduct, bullying and harassment, discrimination and hate crime; and developing and running prevention training. It then, when appropriate, moves to the Student Discipline Team, which administers the University’s student discipline policies and processes, from formal complaint through to reaching a Disciplinary Committee.

The Development team, led by Matt, works to inspire philanthropic support for the University from alumni, friends, trusts & foundations, and corporations as well as fostering relationships with our community of over 240,000 alumni globally.

Director of Wellbeing and Safeguarding

The Director leads the Wellbeing and Safeguarding group, a multi-functional business area providing a range of key services to support the wellbeing and safety of the Warwick community including; Community Safety, Disability Services, Wellbeing and Student Support, Counselling and Psychology Interventions, Student Funding, Residential Community Team, Children’s Services, Safeguarding and Staff Wellbeing. The Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the University Wellbeing Strategy, and brings together key stakeholders to deliver a whole university approach to wellbeing.

To note, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion now sits within the Strategy Team under Social Inclusion and Health & Safety within the Secretary to Council team.

Director of Warwick Institute of Engagement (WIE)

Helen is the Academic Director for WIELink opens in a new window, is Professor and Director of Film and Television Studies and is also co-founder of the Centre for Television Histories. WIE acts as a pan-University hub for both academic and professional services staff, as well as UG and PG students, who are committed to developing the role and importance of public and community engagement within the University. Together with WIE’s core team and wider Fellowship, as well as co-Director Andrew Todd, Helen builds capacity and expertise for public and community engagement across the University’s student and staff communities; delivers a substantial public and community engagement events programme; supports the University’s response to the Government’s Skills, Impact and Knowledge Exchange agendas; contributes towards the University’s Regional and Community Leadership strategy; as well as delivers the public engagement elements of the University’s STEM Grand Challenge programme.

Regional strategy and engagement is led by Andrew who facilitates the University’s leadership role in the economic, social and cultural growth of our region and is responsible for the University’s relationships with local residents, civic partners and regional organisations, representing the University on key regional boards and networks.

Andrew is also Co-Director of the Warwick Institute of Engagement.

Director, Social Inclusion

Kulbir Shergill leads on Social Inclusion, and she joined the University in 2019. Kulbir is a diversity and inclusion professional with over 20 years experience across various sectors. She achieves change on issues of diversity and inclusion through effective relationship building and engagement.

Kulbir has worked with a wide range of organisations including KPMG, Axa Investments, Law Society Local Government and major third sector organisations. She has helped them to achieve recognition for providing inclusive services and for being employers of choice.

Director, International Strategy and Relations

Sally leads the International Strategy and Relations Team (ISR). The ISR Team supports and enables connectivity between Warwick and partners overseas, to deliver mutually beneficial collaborations in support of Warwick’s international strategy, enhancing our research and education excellence. The team are regional experts who offer advice and support to enable international collaboration, thereby enhancing opportunities for our students and staff.

Director of Regional and National Policy

Sam Roseveare leads the University’s engagement with politicians and the civil service. He provides insight into how government policy will affect the University of Warwick’s strategy and activities. Sam joined the University in 2021. Previously, he worked at Universities UK, most recently leading the organisation’s policy work on research, innovation and security policy.
