Yom Kippur | Welcome Week 2025
We're looking forward to welcoming all of our Jewish students to Warwick this year, if you will be observing Yom Kippur during Welcome Week, we want to give you a summary of some arrangements and support available to you.
We know that you might have concerns about getting the best start to University life during Yom Kippur, but there's no need to worry, we've rearranged the structure of Welcome Week this year so that you don't have to miss a thing.

Work Restrictions
In recognition of Yom Kippur, we've rearranged Welcome Week this year so that all compulsory academic induction will finish by 5pm on Wed 1 October, and no compulsory activity will take place on Thu 2 October.
This means you should have enough time to eat on Wed evening before sunset and leaves you free on Thu 2 October to observe Yom Kippur.
There may be some optional activity visible in your Welcome Week Timetable on the Thursday, but for any activity with your department you should be able to select an alternative session date. The Jewish Society (JSoc) have also been provided a table at the Societies Fair on Wed 1 October, so you can have a chance to chat with them at the fair before Yom Kippur begins.

Yom Kippur Services
The Chaplaincy and the Jewish Society are collaborating on Yom Kippur services, and we'll post more details here once confirmed.
Full details can be found in your Welcome Week Timetable once this launches in early September; or for more information and peer support, you can also contact the Jewish Society.

Look After Yourself While Fasting
Do look after yourself; don’t try to do too much; and you can always reach out to Wellbeing and Student Support if you need help!
If you'll be living on campus, support is also available from our Residential Community Team (RCT). They're here on campus to support you 24/7 365 days a year.
