Work Restrictions

We recognise that some of you may wish to avoid certain activities in order to observe Yom Kippur. We wanted to reassure you that a number of activities running during Yom Kippur will either be repeated during the week, or will offer alternative means of catching up (e.g. the ‘Big Hello from University support services event offers an online summary of the support services alongside a brief summary of the types of support they offer).

If I arrive after Yom Kippur, how will I make friends?

We recognise that some of you may find wish to observe Yom Kippur from home and arrive on campus after Yom Kippur. This can also bring some anxiety about meeting people and making friends. Rest assured – there are plenty of opportunities for you to meet and get to know fellow new students at Warwick. Here is a summary of some of the support available to you:

The Residential Community Team aim to help you settle in and get to know your flatmates. They will be running a series of events to help you mix in your residences.

Our many Sports clubs and Societies will be running a series of activities and taster events to suit all types of interests – do have a look on your Welcome Timetable to find those that most interest you!

The Warwick Presents programme is a great way to meet others through a wide variety of activities. You can also join the Global Connections Community mailing list to stay updated with upcoming activities during term-time.
