How did you find out about Warwick?

I heard about Warwick from a family friend who had just graduated from the university. He told me that his experience at Warwick were the best years of his life and I was sold. My university counsellor had also spoken to me about Warwick being a prospective home away from home with its esteemed student satisfaction rankings, diverse student body, and memorable campus atmosphere and life.

Did you consider studying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?

Familiar and comfortable with the English education system, I found that the academic rigour at Warwick would perfectly challenge and push me in today’s highly competitive world. The British education system notably offers much more structure than its liberal arts counterparts in other nations. This structure ensures that I focus and dive deep into my chosen field, gaining the strongest possible foundation of knowledge. Additionally, Warwick hosts arguably the most friendly environment for international students such as myself. I knew Warwick’s scholarly academics would help me develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to operate effectively in roles within international brands, multinational companies, global financial markets and new business ventures. Being a top-tier school, WBS hosts several job fairs and its strong alumni network will help me build connections required as foundations for any budding entrepreneur.

How did you feel to be awarded a scholarship?

On hearing about the scholarship, I was ecstatic. It was extremely rewarding to see my trials and tribulations see fruition.

Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?

On hearing the good news I ran into my parents’ room to tell them. I fondly remember my dad saying “I told you so” and giving me the tightest hug.

How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?

The application was straightforward-I was honest and creative with my answers for the scholarship form-and did not find any difficulties with my visa application since the information was well explained.

What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?

I fell in love instantly. I appreciated being surrounded by fresh air in the nature and the multiple trails to go on and also fascinated by the different structures of each building on campus, housing or educational.

What is the best thing about Warwick?

The fact that there’s always something on campus really fascinates me. That there is a club or society catering to everyone’s interests and passions creates an unparalleled atmosphere.

What is the worst thing?

So far, nothing!

How is your accommodation?

I live at Bluebell, an ensuite room with a kitchen shared between eight students. The accommodation is on central campus, making it easy for me to commute to classes, or enjoy the calm of the lake to momentarily get away from the buzzing campus. Additionally, having diverse flatmates allows me to experience new cuisines, cultures, and traditions.

Are you a member of any societies?

I am a member of the Warwick India Forum, Warwick Entrepreneurs, Warwick Green Party Society, Warwick Women’s Football and Warwick Bollywood Dance Society. Each society has their set objectives for the year, and as a member we work to achieve those goals and objectives. It’s also a great opportunity to make new friends and be surrounded by like-minded people. I have also been appointed as Fresher’s Representative for the Warwick Bollywood Dance Society through which I will help organise, plan, budget and market the events and classes, and work with the executive team.

What are your plans when you graduate?

Although I haven’t yet discovered my dream job, I am certain that Warwick’s offerings will help me find it.

What would you say to someone considering applying for an Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship at Warwick, what would it be?

My advice would be to shoot your shot! We all have something that makes us stand out. Don’t let the odds stifle you. There’s always only one way to find out-if you don’t try, you may regret it for a long time to come. Believe in yourself, enjoy the application process, and don’t leave room for regrets.

What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?

What makes me happy about Warwick is how home-like it is for me. I adjusted very quickly and that was when I knew this place was for me. While being extremely academic, I appreciate the time I have to take out from studying and use to follow my passion, try out a new society, go and socialise or spend hours at the sports hub. The dosawalla and Wednesday street food carts also make me happy since it makes Wednesday a special lunch day!
