Receiving a scholarship has helped me make the most of my experience at Warwick by easing my financial burden and motivating me to engage in everything I could. It made me more aware and grateful for what was being offered.

What is the value of your scholarship?

Half-fee

Was obtaining a scholarship the deciding factor to study at Warwick?

Yes

How did you hear about Warwick?

The first time I saw it was in the university rankings, and I properly looked at it after finding my joint-honours degree while searching for an interdisciplinary programme.

How did you hear about the scholarship?

I received an email after applying through UCAS.

Why did you choose Warwick over other UK or international universities?

Various factors, one of them was the financial support. That it it a campus university, so it provided a safe environment. Because of the unique degree and reputation.

Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?

I was helping my mum to set up the table for lunch when I received the scholarship outcome. We jumped and hug while I still holding the forks.

How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?

I had difficulties with my CAS letter course ending date, which made go through the visa application process again.

What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?

It is very green and modern

What is your favourite part about the University of Warwick?

Definitely it's the campus. Also the passion I see in my professors.

What is your least favourite part about the University of Warwick?

That is so far away from home

What are your impressions of your accommodation? Is this on campus/off campus?

My first year accommodation was on campus, Whitefields and I loved it! Then I moved out to Leamington but now I am moving closer to campus, walking distance.

What do you plan to do when you graduate?

I plan to pursue higher education as my degree is too broad.

How has receiving a scholarship helped you to make the most of your experience from the opportunities at
Warwick?

Receiving a scholarship has helped me make the most of my experience at Warwick by easing my financial burden and motivating me to engage in everything I could. It made me more aware and grateful for what was being offered.

Did receiving a scholarship encourage you to engage with other scholarship recipients from other nationalities/cultural backgrounds?

Definitely! We shared our own stories, how we got there, and learn from each other.

How did the University of Warwick help in easing you into living in a new country/environment?

Through Welcome Week events, putting numbers a ways of contacting them very easy to access. Societies and talking with other students was what made me adapt quickly

What is one standout memory from your time at Warwick so far?

During Welcome Week, right after our GSD induction, we noticed a huge pile of food leftovers. Instead of just eating what we wanted, my new course mates and I grabbed the extra sandwiches and handed them out to students around campus. This moment wasn't just about avoiding food waste; it was about recognising that we were like-minded individuals, all passionate about the same values that brought us to the GSD programme in the first place. It was in this unexpected and somewhat ironic situation that I found my closest group of friends. We bonded over our shared commitment to sustainability and realised that the rumours I had read on prospective students blogs were true: GSD really is like a family.
