Student Profile: Maristel Sarita Jaime Salcedo

Among all of the options, I chose Warwick because of its prestige in the UK, its position in the QS world ranking and the Global Sustainable Development program it offered, as the syllabus was very complete and covered broad areas of sustainability.

How did you hear about Warwick?

I found it on a website for master’s studies around the world.

Where else did you consider studying?/ Where did your friends or siblings go?

I applied to 3 universities: Greenwich, Bath and Warwick. One of my close friends came to the UK to study a master’s as well, but she went to the University of Westminster.

Why did you choose Warwick over other UK universities and other universities in the world?

I knew I wanted to study in the UK. I looked for options of universities that offered master’s programs in Sustainability. Among all of the options, I chose Warwick because of its prestige in the UK, its position in the QS world ranking and the Global Sustainable Development program it offered, as the syllabus was very complete and covered broad areas of sustainability.

When you found out about Warwick, did you contact the University to find out more? Which department?

No, I found all the information on the website.

Do you have any feedback on the service, advice or overall experience of working with the agent?

I was helped by Inova Education. They’re not an agency per se, as far as I know, but they do help Latin American students with guidance for postgraduate studies in the UK for free, without having to give them anything in return.

Would you recommend working with this agent to a friend in their application to Warwick?

Yes.

What is the best thing about Warwick?

Besides of its quality in general, I would say that the vibrance it has is unique. The people around, the diversity and safety you feel on campus.

Are you a member of any societies? If so, what have you done with them?

Yes, the Catholic Society, the Astronomy Society and the Postgraduate Society. Each of them had many activities in general and was very fun. However, for the Astronomy society I had to pay 10 pounds (societies fee, I think) and the entrance to the society fee. I think that’s expensive and we did not get that much of exclusive activities only for members of the society.

If you were giving advice to a student considering study at Warwick, what advice would you give them?

Get informed as much as you can of the activities and events, so you take as many opportunities as possible.

What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?

I found a home.
